THE LECTIONARY: The Anglican table of readings is laid out in the Revised Common Lectionary (R.C.L.) and is used for all services except, the 8:30 am Holy Communion when the Book of Common Prayer Lectionary is used. It is usual, though not essential, for the celebrant at Communion to read the Gospel.
COFFEE ROTA: There are 8 teams. Please contact Heather McCombie for details.
SIDESMEN: The duties of the Sidesmen include making people feel welcome and providing visitors with appropriate books and information sheets. They are usually responsible for the collection, and may be called upon to help with the counting at the end of the service.
LAY COMMUNION ASSISTANTS: Lay assistants often double as servers, assisting the priest with the preparation and ablutions. They may also be called upon to help "lay up" the table before the service. They do not robe, but are asked to dress smartly. Only those with the bishop's permission may assist at Communion. Those with a bishop's license or PTO, Church Wardens and Ordinands are included.
READING: With the exception of the 8.30 am BCP Communion, when the King James Bible may be used, all readings should be read from a modern translation that is easily understood. If there are more than one set of readings available, or a choice of readings, the Celebrant or Preacher should be consulted on which to use.
Thank you: A very big thank you for all you do to make our services run smoothly, and in making visitors feel welcome and at home.
